CONCEPT : 3 approaches to understanding a football pitch
1. Constellation : hubs and network
The dispersed layout of various programmes across the former AS Differdange football pitch.
The layout, shaped by the surrounding context, defines both built and landscaped hubs.
The spaces in between will link to form a network, a continuous open space, a vast whole rather than individual segments.
The orchard connects different clearings – the programme elements.
2. Concentration : holistic accumulation
The accumulation of different functions into a single whole.
The pooling of programme-specific qualities to generate overall added value.
The whole becomes greater than the sum of its constituent parts.
3. Mémorisation : the unifying void
Highlighting the inherited quality of the old stadium; the void linking the urban and the industrial.
The proportions of a football pitch dictate the peripheral layout around a significant and distinct landscape feature: the rectangular plain.
The (royal) square, the arcades, the urban jungle

The pitch, the structure, the brownfield site
4. Exploitation : integrating the site’s existing infrastructure
Combining the new programme with the existing infrastructure to generate unexpected functional synergies.
