LOOK UP
1. Attitude
An installation in a public space, particularly on one of the main streets of Luxembourg City, requires an attitude rather than an aesthetic concept.
An attitude that is rooted in the spirit of the times and responds to the contemporary upheavals of our civilisation will be able to transcend the status of urban decoration to become urban art.
2. Appropriation
This installation should serve to visually and physically enliven a street; however, it should also encourage reflection and the intellectual engagement of every passer-by.
3. Resources
Investing in and spending money on the acquisition of ephemeral products to decorate the public realm does not seem acceptable, as it is in direct conflict with current issues of sustainability and resource management.
4. Opportunities
Despite the numerous constraints (budgetary, technical and time-related), Look Up presents a series of opportunities.
Firstly, the opportunity to intervene in a meaningful and thoughtful way in the public realm, that is, to incorporate an intellectual and participatory element into an installation designed for contemplation.
Secondly, the opportunity to raise funds to acquire resources that would otherwise be a burden on third parties – and thus the opportunity to benefit by acting in solidarity.
Finally, the opportunity to mark, through an aesthetic but above all symbolic gesture, the summer of a city and a privileged population.
