CITE PAYSAGE

Located in the interurban green zone between Luxembourg City and the dense southern region, we envisioned a contemporary garden city that preserves much of the existing landscape.

One single, shared street traces the topography, organically distributing the neighbourhood and creating residential sequences.

Between row houses and collective housing estates, paths weave private and public landscapes into a system of commons, with small squares anchoring shared amenities.

Just nine minutes from Luxembourg’s main station, the station neighbourhood accommodates a distinct urban intensity, as the public landscape ascends from this point.

The paths converge on the preserved hilltop, where human and non-human paths meet in a landscape of production and leisure.

Shortlisted for the third round of the national housing zone competition, our proposal focused on preserving the majority of the landscape through a vernacular-inspired (sub)urban fabric, was ultimately not selected.

Nevertheless, the second-place ranking strengthens our confidence that themes such as landscape continuity, climate change mitigation, and a broader paradigm shift in urban development may gain traction in the near future.
