Commissioned to manage the renovation of an elderly home into social student housing, special attention was given to add value through design, at low to no cost, to the shared spaces and the new insulating skin.
By structuring the façade rendering in various directions, the play of light and shadow provides the building with a subtle dynamic appearance, changing according to the sun’s and the observer’s position.
The corridors and shared areas have been painted in vivid colors, contrasting with the neutral interiors of the studios and the light-grey color of the facades. At night, these shared spaces will animate the facade and disclose the uses of building to the public realm of the street.
