BROADWAY
This former farm, one of the first extra-muros buildings of the once fortified city, has been transformed into housing and offices.
Successive layers of transformations have been stripped in order to disclose what is left of the original, vernacular substance, built of local materials. The demolition of the garages in the central courtyard has made space for rain water capture and vegetation. It is thus the extension of urban public space. Located behind the house, the barn, of which the ground floor served to host cattle and the top floor to store hay, has been turned into an office for up to 18 collaborators, all while maintaining the traces of past uses and users.
